- Try having a toileting schedule. Upon arrival, before recess, before lunch, etc.
- Post sequences in the bathroom where the child can see them.
- Have students sit on the toilet within 15 to 30 minutes of eating to take advantage of the body's natural tendency to have a bowel movement after eating.
- If a student has an accident take them to the washroom to clean up and explain what they should do next time.
- Encourage parents to send students wearing clothing that is easy to manipulate.
- Put cheerios in the urinal for target practice.
- Rewards! If they are successful - celebrate!
- Make sure all the adults involved are using the same routines and the same language.
