Writing

As with the reading section, the focus here is Functional  skills. Below are links to pages to help with other writing related topics.

  • Signs appropriate forms with their signature.
  • Draws and scribbles, assigning meaning to their print.
  • Draws and “writes” with a variety of tools.
  • Pretends to write messages and stories.
  • Demonstrates an understanding that writing conveys a message.
  • Dictates a message to an adult who is scribing for them.
  • Begins to use invented spelling.
  • Gradually improves spelling and learns spelling rules.
  • Writes short stories, messages, lists, etc.
  • Correctly addresses an envelope.
  • Writes lists ie. Shopping lists.
  • Writes simple notes and letters.
  • Fills in simple forms with personal information.
